MUSIC!!!

For those who love good quality music, go buy two CDs from the store.  The first is the self-titled CD from MuteMath.  They are all very talented musicians.  Buy the CD and you will see and hear what I mean.  The second CD is the newest from tobyMac.  For those who already love him like I do, I don't want to give too much away.  On the CD is the best diversity of Jamaican-reggae/hip-hop/rock/funk that I have ever heard.  He has a great variety of other artists on the CD, live instrumentation and perhaps even an appearance from a junior mc that has been on all of his CDs up till now.  Song titles from the CD include "One World", "No Ordinary Love" and "Feelin' So Fly".  All I can say is that the CD is good.  They both are.  Go buy them!

Geneva

For those who are at Geneva, I might be there tomorrow for the annual "Film Fest."  I think it is at 8 and I get off work at 6:30 or so.  That gives me about an hour and a half to make it to Geneva.  I think I will try to get off work about 15 minutes early so that I can make it to Geneva in time.  Yeah.  That it all!

Spiritual Warfare

You know the worst thing about spiritual warfare?  It never ends!  It's kind of like playing soccer, basketbal or another sports related game.  You only take a break long enough to catch your breath before going out and playing again.  Spiritual warfare is the same way.  It is a constant thing.  There is no such thing as a "day off" from spiritual warfare.  There are days when it is great and almost overbearing just as there are days when spiritual warfare seems minimal, but it is ALWAYS there.  I am reading a great book by Charles Stanley about spiritual warfare right now entitled "When the Enemy Strikes."  So far I have only been able to readh the first two chapters, but it does a great job of exposing how real the face of evil is and exactly who the enemy is.  Far too many times we forget how great the enemy is, how deep the hatred is for Christ and how often we are in the center of Satan's attacks.  I am the first to admit that far too often my armor; helmet, belt, boots, shield and sword; just sit over in the corner.  The armor is fading and the sword is dull.  The average Christian does not know how to "fight the good fight" or how to "endure the race."  Why?  Most of us have never moved beyond the recruiting lines of salvation to the battle lines of devotion and discipline.  Where do we start?  How about the history book that tells of the many warriors, real warriors, who lived before us.  Life is war.  There will be casualites.  Will we step up to the front lines and fight or will we settle for a life of mediocrity?  The choice is up to you and me.  A life of true to devotion to Christ is not an easy life, but it is far greater than any life we lead on our own.  My prayer is that all of us would choose to live a life of true devotion.

I have been struggling a lot lately.  There are so many things going on in this life.  Time is filled with everything from work, eating, having fun with friends, reading a book, planning for the future, thinking about all the problems we face, worry, doubt, impressing others, but it is all worthless.  It is all in vain.  No other person said it better than Solomon when he wrote the book of Ecclesiastes.

“Everything is meaningless,” says the Teacher, “completely meaningless!”

3 What do people get for all their hard work under the sun? 4 Generations come and generations go, but the earth never changes. 5 The sun rises and the sun sets, then hurries around to rise again. 6 The wind blows south, and then turns north. Around and around it goes, blowing in circles. 7 Rivers run into the sea, but the sea is never full. Then the water returns again to the rivers and flows out again to the sea. 8 Everything is wearisome beyond description. No matter how much we see, we are never satisfied. No matter how much we hear, we are not content.

9 History merely repeats itself. It has all been done before. Nothing under the sun is truly new. 10 Sometimes people say, “Here is something new!” But actually it is old; nothing is ever truly new. 11 We don’t remember what happened in the past, and in future generations, no one will remember what we are doing now.

We work to make things ours.  Isn't that what the "American Dream" is all about?  We want to look back and say that we were able to carve out a life for ourselves and that we were successful.  We don't want to conform to anything because conformity is a sign of weakness and dependency.  "Think for yourself!"  "Don't be so closed minded about things!"  "Christianity is a crutch for those who can't think for themselves!"  "Conform to nothing but oppose everything that offends you!"  And so we live in a pluralistic society that is outright opposed to God.  We would rather see many suffer for the benefit of one.  Isn't that what abortion rights are about?  Kill millions of innocent babies so that we can live without the resposibility of a child.  Let victims of crime live in fear while the criminal walks free because we don't want to offend him or cause him unwanted pain.  Christ died so that one might suffer for all.  The total opposite of what this society holds to.  We live a life of vanity.  A life that includes God only when it fits into our schedules.  Are we more commited to Christ or to our own personal cause and our own personal agendas?

Here we go again i forgot about You today
pass the salt to me don't pour it out
well i might as well be cold i figured out
it's all a waste of time

why you dig a well if you're gonna find it dry my friend?
sharpen up that ax, don't chop it down
well you might as well have laid the wet stone down
it's all a waste of time

how can i know this and still walk away?!
my life, it's all a waste of time

why you sippin java if you know you need your rest tonight?
add some sugar please, some sweet and low
and make it all decaffeinated so i won't stay up
it's all a waste of time

why prepare for battle if you're never gonna fight my friend?
battle lines are drawn, negotiating with the Spirit
can i make a deal on my own terms?
it's all a waste of time

how can i know this and still walk away?!
my life, it's all a waste of time

to be in my comfort zone
Your life is the Truth, so worthy of my time!
here we go again i forgot about You today

Is your Christianity for real, or is it all talk?  Do we really understand the spiritual warfare that takes place every day, or is it all just another fairy tale that we talk about on Sunday mornings?  Pick up your Bible and read it.  The fight is real and one day we will no longer be able to freely discuss it, read about it and worship the way we do now.  Decide for yourself what you believe and be passionate about it.  We must be lukewarm no more.

Untitled

Apologies for the length but not for content.

God doesn't need our words.
God doesn't need our actions.
God doesn't need us.

God created this world on His own.  God created us by the very words He spoke.  It is by His words that there is existence and life.  It is by His words that there is death.  He has no flaws, no faults, no blemishes.  God created us to be like Him.  We were created in His image.  Nothing exists outside of God or apart from His will.  With God there is beauty, love, hope peace, joy life and salvation!  How could we ever try to be anything without Him?  Take a look at the world around you!  Not the cars, buildings and the city you see every day, but the world that God created.  I am talking about the wind rushing through the trees, the river running through the valleys and the ice peaks on the mountain tops.  There are the deer in the fields and the birds in the air, the light of the sun and the cool of the night air, there is the beauty of the ocean and the wonder of the creatures in it.  All of these things are evidence of the mighty hand of God!  When we think of all of this, evidence of our Creator, our Lord and our King!  We can't help but cry out  and worship Him with all that we are and to love Him with all that is within us!  We must seek after Him, love Him and ask for His wisdom.  God I ask that for me.  I ask that for those I see every day.  Fill us and let us be more like You!  May we never forget You!  May we never forget Your love and Your ultimate sacrifice for us!

God doesn't need us, but He wants us.
God wants our worship, our lives and our devotion to Him.
God wants us to love Him and to celebrate Him!
